Swimmer Expectations

All Braun Oaks Dolphins swimmers are expected to:

• Listen to Coaches and Team Volunteers.
• Follow all pool and facility rules at home and away pools and facilities.
• Treat Teammates, Opponents, Officials, Volunteers, and Families with respect.
• Demonstrate good sportsmanship at practices, meets, and team events.
• Encourage and support fellow swimmers.
• Cheer respectfully for teammates and other competitors.
• Stay in the designated team area during meets unless instructed otherwise.
• Let an adult know before leaving the team area.
• Report promptly when events are called.
• Be attentive and ready when races are starting.
• Help maintain a quiet and respectful environment near the starting blocks.
• Congratulate swimmers racing in neighboring lanes after each race.
• Check in with a coach after each race for feedback and encouragement.
• Keep personal belongings organized.
• Respect teammates’ space and belongings.
• Help keep team areas clean and leave spaces better than they were found.
• Dispose of all trash properly.
• Participate in positive activities between events.
• Stay focused on supporting teammates and preparing for races.
• Accept race results graciously.
• Represent the Braun Oaks Dolphins in a positive manner.

Winning is exciting, but effort, improvement, teamwork, and sportsmanship are equally important parts of the swim team experience.

Parent and Family Expectations

Parents and families play an important role in creating a positive team culture.

Braun Oaks Dolphins families are expected to:

• Support all swimmers, not just their own.
• Encourage swimmers regardless of race results.
• Cheer respectfully for all competitors.
• Treat Coaches, Volunteers, Officials, Opposing Teams, and other Families with respect.
• Follow pool rules, facility rules, and host team guidelines.
• Check SwimTopia and team communications for updates.
• Arrive on time and prepared for practices, meets, and team events.
• Help swimmers stay organized and ready to race.
• Help swimmers stay aware of upcoming events.
• Follow directions from Coaches, Wranglers, Deck Ready volunteers, meet Officials, and Team Leadership.
• Volunteer as needed to help meets run smoothly.
• Fulfill volunteer commitments and help when additional assistance is needed.
• Show appreciation for the Volunteers, Officials, and Coaches who make practices and meets possible.
• Allow Coaches to provide technical instruction, race feedback, corrections, and encouragement.
• Avoid coaching swimmers from the sidelines during practices or races.
• Encourage swimmers to listen to and trust their Coaches.
• Save questions or concerns for an appropriate time outside of practices, races and meet responsibilities.
• Avoid arguing with Officials regarding calls or decisions.
• Communicate concerns calmly, respectfully, and appropriately.
• Help keep team areas, seating areas, walkways, and facilities clean.
• Keep aisles, walkways, and pool access areas clear.
• Be mindful of noise levels during announcements and race starts.
• Respect the privacy of other swimmers and families.
• Use good judgment when posting photos or videos online.
• Do not take photos or videos from directly behind the starting blocks.
• Represent the Braun Oaks Dolphins in a positive manner at all team events and on social media.

Swim meets involve many moving parts, and cooperation from Swimmers, Families, Volunteers, Coaches, and Officials helps everything run smoothly.

Positive encouragement and active participation help swimmers build confidence, enjoy the sport, and feel proud to be part of the Braun Oaks Dolphins.
